JUSTICE FOR SAM is a family’s call to action. Samuel Bird has been missing since June 1, 2025. He was last seen in the Canora neighbourhood of Edmonton, Alberta.
“This case has touched hearts across Treaty No. 6 Territory. We fully support the family’s decision and we echo their call for long-term investment in Indigenous-led search and recovery teams. The burden cannot fall on families alone.”
— Confederacy of Treaty No. 6 First Nations Grand Chief Greg Desjarlais
Samuel Bird has not been seen or heard from, and he was reported missing to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) on June 6th, 2025. The EPS made a public notice that Sam was missing on July 11th, 2025.
The family received cultural information to search the North Saskatchewan River (NSR), so the family searched the NSR from Drayton Valley, Alberta, to Waskatenau, Alberta.
With Sam’s father and grandmother, community public searches were organized throughout Edmonton;
including malls, bus routes and community parks
