Samuel Bird's disappearance deemed criminal | Press Release
On October 1, 2025, the Edmonton Police Service released a press release, along with a press conference on the current updates around Samuel Bird’s case.
“I am Samuel’s dad and raised him from 2016 to September 2024. Initially I did not want to be in the media but know that I love and miss my son. I cry alone and my heart breaks daily with the pain of memories of time with him.
Finding Sam has always been the focus, which is why I haven’t spoken publicly until now. My family and I will continue to look for Sam by foot, boat, by helicopter and any means available to us, and thank everyone who has contributed to this effort.
Please, anyone with any information; come forward. We need to find him and get Justice for Sam.”
Homicide detectives are now confirming that missing 14-year-old Samuel Bird is presumed deceased, and his death is believed to be criminal in nature. Investigators believe that the suspect or suspects involved in Samuel’s disappearance may have disposed of his body no more than 150 km from Edmonton, and that this occurred within a short time of his disappearance on June 1, 2025.
“We believe Samuel’s body was disposed of on land, and that steps were taken to conceal the body to avoid detection... We are appealing to the public, and in particular, landowners, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who may frequent rural areas to be on the lookout for Samuel’s remains.”
